Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will be attending the oath-taking of Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister of Bihar on Friday.
Beyond courtesy, it has political implications. Mr. Chandy has released an article, to be published in newspapers on Friday to coincide with the swearing-in, describing the victory of Grand Alliance as one against communalism and fascism.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here today that neither he nor the UDF had demanded Mr. Mani’s resignation.
Announcing acceptance of Mr. Mani’s resignation, the Chief Minister said that he still considered Mr. Mani as innocent and believed that he would be able to return after proving his innocence.

Kerala Minister for Finance and Law K. M. Mani resigned as Minister today in view of the adverse remarks from High Court in the bar-bribery case. Government Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan also resigned in solidarity with him.
Announcing his decision, the Minister said that he was resigning expressing his regard for the rule of law. He would continue to extend unreserved support to the United Democratic Front.
