Cancers of the tongue, stomach, lung, breast and thyroid gland appears to have the highest incidence in Kerala.
Nearly 40 per cent of the cancer patients registered at the Regional Cancer Centre here between January 1, 2012 and March 31, 2015 had cancers of those sites. Highest number of deaths at the centre was of patients with stomach, lung and breast cancers.

Fires are occurring in Periyar Tiger Reserve as summer advances.
Satellites of NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System have detected fires in the South West and North East parts of the Reserve during the past 24 hours.
Several fires had occurred in different parts of the sanctuary early this month also.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Government has appealed to the High Court to grant one more month to appoint Commissioners to State Information Commission.
In an affidavit filed before the Court, the government said that the meeting of selection committee comprising of the Chief Minister, Minister for Industries and Information Technology and Opposition Leader could not be held on account of political engagements of the Leader of the Opposition and Minister.
