Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister designate Pinarai Vijayan said here on Tuesday that his government would be one that belongs to all—a non-partisan government that would work for progress of the State.
Addressing a press conference here, the Chief Minister said that the government would work above political, religious and caste differences.

The CPI is facing rebellion over choice of its ministers in Kerala.
Senior leaders Mullakkara Ratnakaran and C. Divakaran protested against the party proposing four new faces for ministership in the LDF ministry. The proposed names are that of V. S. Sunil Kumar, P. Thilothaman, E. Chanddrasekharan and K. Raju
Mr. Ratnakaran threatened that he would quit all posts in the party in protest against the decision of the party executive against his inclusion in the ministry. Mr. Divakaran said that he would wait for his time before responding.

The CPI (M) has proposed Dr. Thomas Isaac, G. Sudhakaran, E. P. Jayarajan, A. K. Balan and seven others as Ministers in the Pinarai Vijayan ministry. P. Sreeramakrishnan, who was elected from Ponnani, is proposed as Speaker.
The decision is to be finalised by the State Committee meeting here on Monday.

Nine newly elected members entering the Assembly now have assets exceeding Rs. 10 crores. As many as 61 of the 140 new members are crorepatis.
Thomas Chandy (NCP,) who was elected from Kuttanad, tops the list with assets exceeding Rs. 92.37 crores. V. K. C. Mammed Koya (CPI-M), who won the election from Beypore comes second with assets of Rs. 30.42 crores. The third richest member is K. B. Ganesh Kumar (KC-B) whose net worth is of Rs. 22.21 crores.
Out of 140 MLAs, eight (6%) MLAs are women. In 2011, there were only seven (5%) women in the Assembly.

Veteran CPI (M) Leader V. S. Achuthanandan said on Saturday that he would continue to be guardian of public interest, upholding leftist views and public causes.
At a media conference here, the CPI (M) leader refused to be drawn into questions on his claim for Chief Ministership or his health, saying this was not an occasion to respond to such questions. He was there to say adieu as Opposition Leader.
