BJP leader criticises exclusion of vigilance probes from RTI

V. MuraleedharanThiruvananthapuram: Former State president of BJP V. Muraleedharan said here on Friday that the government was trying to protect corrupt ministers and bureaucrats by classifying the vigilance enquires against them as top secret and excluding information on them from right to information though a notification.

Mr. Muraleedharan noted that the government had issued the notification on the ground that the secret nature of the investigation should be protected. However, the real objective was to hide corruption.

He said that the Chief Minister should clarify why such a notification had to be issued secretly. With enquires against members of the Assembly also included in the top secret category, no information on enquiries against politicians would be available to the public.

He said that the LDF should clarify whether this was done with concurrence of the Left Democratic Front.
