CM to draw salary only after clearing welfare pensions every month

Thiruvananthapuram: Welfare pensions will henceforth be paid on the 18th of every month from January next year.

The governmetn took the decision against the background of delays in payment of the pensions and accumulation of arrears.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy announced that the Finance Department will submit a status report regarding the money handed over to treasuries for the disbursal of welfare pensions to him every month. He would draw his salary only after getting the report.

Mr. Chandy said that the arrangement for payment of welfare pensions would now be on the lines of salary disbursal to government employees for which there are no restrictions or delay.
