Court directive on voters list

Kochi: Kerala High Court has directed Election Commission of India to take appropriate action on complaints of dual enrollment by voters in Idukki and Theni districts.

The Court was disposing off a public interest litigation filed by Desiya Paristhithi Congress contending that there’re was large scale inclusion of members in the voters list in Idukki district who were also enrolled in votes list in Tamil Nadu. Specific references were made to Udumbanchola Legislative Assembly constituency and Cumbum Legislative Assembly constituency

The petitioner contended that though issue was brought to the notice of various authorities, no action had been taken in the matter so far.

The case was heard before the bench of Chief Justice Asok Bhushan and A. M. Shaffique.
