Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday that his government was not under any threat from disclosures being made by accused in the solar scam Saritha S. Nair.
Those making allegations against him were people who had forged his letter pad. If Saritha could prove her allegations, he would quit public life, Mr. Chandy told the media after Cabinet meeting.
The Chief Minister said that the UDF had called for an enquiry into conspiracy behind the allegations. A decision on instituting the enquiry would be taken soon. He did not believe that that the CPI (M) offered money to Saritha.
Mr. Chandy said that he had no role in the resignation of K. Karunakaran following the campaign from within the party that his government had lost its image. There was no connection between Karunakaran’s resignation and the ISRO spy case. He had never made any allegations against Mr. Karunakaran in respect of the spy case.
He said that the political situation that led to the resignation of Karunakaran and the present situation were different.
He reiterated that the government had not lost any money in the solar scam. The accused had got no benefits from the government.
The Opposition was worried about people’s support to the Government. That was why CPI (M) State Secretary was threatening that he would not be allowed to move around. If people believed Saritha’s allegations, why should the Opposition be worried? he asked.
