Green signal for Congress restructuring at lower levels

KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi has given the green signal for restructuring of Congress in the State, KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran said in Delhi on Tuesday.

Speaking to media after discussions with Mr. Gandhi, Mr. Sudheeran said that the proposed restructuring would not cover the KPCC. Party units that are not functional at lower levels would be replaced with a view to victory in Parliament elections.

He said that the KPCC would be leading agitations in the coming days over issues such as political violence. The KPCC had already decided to organise agitations against fuel price hike.

He said that the government was not doing anything to supress political violence. Though attacks had taken place against UDF workers and officers, the police had taken no action.

Meanwhile, the detractors of Mr. Sudheeran in the State unit are planning to go to Delhi and demand removal of Mr. Sudheeran.
