Kanam pitches for Achuthanandan

CPI State Secretary Kanam RajendranThiruvananthapuram: Who will lead the Left Democratic Front in the forthcoming Assembly polls?

The issue has once again been opened by CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran. Referring to CPI (M) leader Pinarai Vijayan leading his party’s march from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, the CPI Leader said that leader of political marches need not necessarily be the Front’s candidate for the Chief Ministership.

Mr. Rajendran further said that Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan had no disqualification to his leading the election campaign. He had successfully led the campaign in the elections to the local self governments. The criteria were not age but ability to work as far as CPI was concerned.

He said that minorities gradually becoming the majority in the State caused social imbalance. This should be addressed.

Meanwhile, reports say that the CPI (M) State Committee had deputed Mr. Vijayan to lead the march when the polit bureau wanted party State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to lead the march.
