Sukesan was reprimanded earlier: Home Minister

Home Minister Ramesh ChennithalaThiruvananthapuram: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said on Saturday that report against Superintendent of Police (Vigilannce) R. Sukesan had not been kept in cold storage for more than one year as alleged.

The Home Minister said that Mr. Sukesan had been reprimanded on receipt of the report.  There was no recommendation for crime branch probe against Mr. Sukesan in the report. (The Vigilance ADGP recommended probe only this month.)

The report said that Mr. Sukesan, who was the investigating officer in the bar-bribery case against then Finance Minister K. M. Mani, had leaked information about the probe to Biju Ramesh who had raised the allegations against Mr. Mani.

It was alleged that the Home Ministry had received the report against Mr. Sukesan from Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch), Ernakulam, as the quick verification on the allegation against Mr. Mani was being conducted.  However, action against Mr. Sukesan was initiated only after Biju Ramesh made allegations against Ramesh Chennithala and V. S. Sivakumar.
