Summer rains lash southern districts of Kerala

Kottayam: Summer rain lashed many parts of South Kerala on Friday and Saturday.

Most parts of Kottayam district including Palai and Kanjirapally and some parts of Idukki district received copious rain on Friday afternoon on both days. It rained also in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts. Rain occurred in some parts of Kollam district too.

The rain recurred on Saturday though with lesser precipitation in some parts of South Kerala.

Temperatures dropped in Southern districts except perhaps Kollam. Day temperatures continued to be high in northern districts. Kannur and Palakkad recorded the highest maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius.

The weather bureau has forecast rain in all southern districts besides Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram during the next 24 hours. Thiruvanathapuram is going to have precipitation in the next few days.
