Thiruvananthapuram: Talks between managements of private self-financing medical colleges and Health Minister K. K. Shayaja failed on Monday.
Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan will now hold discussions with the managements to resolve the deadlock.
The management raised the demand for uniform fees for all students in the private medical colleges though they agreed to 50 per cent government quota for merit based admissions. Later, they climbed down to the position that 30 per cent of the seats should have higher fees while 20 per cent of the seats could have a subsidised fee of Rs. 25000.
However, the government took the stand that an increase of more 10 per cent in the fees could not be allowed.
