Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Tuesday denied the contention of Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan that the police was failing to check crimes.
The statement of the Opposition Leader is against facts. He was citing isolated cases and raising childish allegations against the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Chennithala said.
Mr. Achuthanandan said earlier that the government was adopting a soft approach against crimes. Three murders had taken place in broad day light recently—at Vaikom, Nedumangad and Attingal. Instead of checking the crimes, the DGP was spending time on facebook like school children.
It may be recalled that DGP T. P. Senkumar had recently posted facebook posts against DGP Jacob Thomas, and policemen who looked on when SFI activists manhandled Vice Chairman of Higher Education Council T. P. Sreenivasan at Kovalam recently.
