Man Who Knew Infinity to be opening film at IFFI

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The competition section of International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2015) will feature 15 films from various countries, Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, said in Goa today.

Still from feature film Man who Knew InfinityAddressing a curtain raiser press conference which was streamed across the world by the Press Information Bureau, the Minister said that Shekar Kapur would be the chairperson of the jury. Actor Anil Kapoor would be the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony. Man who knew infinity will be the opening film.

The IFFI, he said, will have a special focus on Spain this year. Master film-makers of Spain and Carlos Saura and Pedro Almadovar will be honoured at the Festival. Films from Pakistan will also be screened.

Replying to questions, he said that there was no intolerance in the country which is a vibrant democracy. Everyone has a right to speak and live his life his own way. The incidents being cited by the Opposition had happened in States ruled by them. Returning of awards by cultural leaders and others was improper. They had been selected for the awards by selection committees of eminent persons.

World Cinema
The IFFI will showcase 187 films from 89 countries in World Cinema section and 26 feature and 21 non-feature films in Indian Panorama section. It will feature a special section ‘Restored Classics’ to highlight National Film Heritage Mission. A special series In Conversation will provide an opportunity for audience to interact with their favorite filmmakers The trailers of the films screened at the press conference showed outstanding imagery and cinematic moments.
