Government signs agreement with college managements

Thiruvananthapuram: The government and managements of 98 self-financing colleges have signed agreement on admissions to engineering courses on Tuesday.

Accordingly, 50 per cent of the seats will be government quota (merit-based). The admissions will be made from the list prepared by the Entrance Commissioner. Admission of students without minimum marks in the entrance examinations will not be permitted.

For 57 colleges, the fees in merit seats have been unified as Rs. 50000. Thus, all students in merit seats will be paying the same fees.  Earlier, some colleges were charging Rs. 75000.

The managements yielded to stand taken by the government during discussions with Education Minister C. Raveendranath.
