Tourist arrivals to Kerala increase

Tea gardensThiruvananthapuram: Tourist arrivals to Kerala have gone up by more than 1.2 lakhs during the last two years.

The number of foreign tourist visits which was 858143 in 2013 went up to 923366 in 2014 and to 977479 in 2015.

There was overall increase in tourist arrivals to South India. While arrivals to Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka went up, visits to Tamil Nadu were almost stagnant.

Foreign tourist arrivals was the highest in West (30.6%) followed by South (29.1%), North (28.4%), East (11.4%) and North East (0.5%).

India ranked 40th in the World in terms of international tourists arrivals in 2015.
