Bonus for government employees

SecretariatThiruvananthapuram: Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to pay Rs. 3500 as bonus to government employees earning up to Rs. 22000 a month (including 9% DA).

Employees with monthly pay of more than Rs. 18870 will be paid festival allowance of Rs. 2400.

The Cabinet also raised the limit for assistance from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund that can be sanctioned by the Chief Minister from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 3 lakh. The Revenue Minister can sanction up to Rs. 25000 and district collector up to Rs. 10000.

State highways and major district roads will be declared as highways under State High Way Protection Act to improve road safety.

The Cabinet named five persons as independent members of the Kerala Infrastructure Fund Board. They are D. Babu Paul (former Finance Secretary), C. P. Chandsekharan (Professor of Economic Studies and Planning), Susheel Khanna (Professor of Economics and Finance, IIIM, Kolkotha), Salim Gangadharan (former Regional Director, RBI, Thiruvananthapuram) and J. N. Gupta (former Executive Director of SEBI and Managing Director of Stakeholders Empowerment Services).

The Cabinet sanctioned eight posts including that of a joint secretary for time bound completion of registration of institutions working in the area of childcare and protection.

It decided to revise the pay scales of employees of Kerala Water Authority on the lines of recommendations of the Tenth Pay Revision Commission.

Professor D. Narayanan will be appointed as Director of Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation.

The family of cricketer S. J. Jayalakshmi Dev will be granted three cents of land at Pazhayakunnummel village near Chirayinkizhu.
